Chiropractic care during pregnancy assists pregnant women in maintaining proper coordination of their spinal columns, nerves and bones without engaging in other means like surgery or drugs. It involves adjustment of misaligned joints in their bodies in order to reduce the pain associated with misalignments. Chiropractic care can benefit pregnant women in many ways but the following are some of the most vital ones.

1. Reduces back pain

Changes that pregnant women experience are both chemical and physical which in most cases are accompanied with unbearable back pain. These changes can also cause headaches and nausea. For these reasons, regular chiropractic care can play a key role in reducing back pain and any other discomfort associated with it.

2. Helps to maintain the unborn child's health

The health of the unborn child depends on that of the mother. Chiropractic care is one of the best ways of ensuring that the unborn child gets the right nutrition and proper care for healthy growth.

3. Helps with delivering the baby

Ongoing chiropractic care can help with proper stimulation of the nervous system, which is responsible for the functioning of the reproductive organs. When the reproductive organs function well, it helps with relaxation of a woman's uterine muscles, pelvis, and birth canal during delivery.

4. Minimizes pregnancy-related complications

There are several complications that can occur during pregnancy and the delivery process, such as the baby being in a breech position. Fortunately, qualified chiropractors who are well-versed with special techniques can help bring the baby back to the normal position.

Call us today to schedule an appointment with one of our specialists.

Have a happy and healthy week!

It starts within the lower back, runs across the buttocks, and down each of the legs. There are 5 spinal nerve roots which unite to form the major sciatic nerve. Whenever any of these 5 nerve roots get irritated or compressed severe pain can occur. This nerve can also get compressed, which can cause unbearable pain within the lower body. Obesity, pinched sciatic nerve, piriformis syndrome, spinal stenosis and lumbar disc herniations are some common causes of sciatic nerve damage.

Gluteus muscles and active trigger sites within the lower back might also cause this condition. In addition, poor posture over a prolonged period of time might induce sciatica pain. Chiropractic sciatica therapy is an extremely common method of alleviating the symptoms of sciatica. Other treatment options may include physical therapy, sciatic nerve stretches, stretching exercises, massage therapy and weight loss.

Chiropractors make use of different types of treatment models. Generally, they focus on using manual spine manipulations, referred to as the chiropractic adjustment. The diagnosis begins with the chiropractic practitioner asking the patient comprehensive questions regarding his symptoms and condition. The chiropractor may also need an MRI or X-Ray report in order to make a thorough diagnosis.

All chiropractic therapies and exercises are aimed at restricting the movement across damaged or injured tissues as well as improving circulation of blood within the area so as to get rid of inflammatory problems. Therapeutic stretching exercises, massage therapy and traction exercises are some basic chiropractic therapy methods commonly utilized for treating sciatica.

They are often triggered from stress, certain foods, and hormones – causing the blood vessels to slowly dilate in the brain. These vessels are then inflamed, causing irritation to the surrounding nerve fibers.

Certain migraines originate in the spine. This can be due to misalignments in the vertebrae which then irritate the nerves traveling from the spine reaching the brain. This misalignment can make some people more prone to having a chemical imbalance. It has been shown that when you realign the vertebrae by a chiropractor specialist, it will relieve the pressures against the inflamed nerves. This will help to relieve the migraines and pain in the brain.

A chiropractic approach for treating migraines can be just as effective, if not more effective than most pharmaceutical drugs. In addition, chiropractic care does not cause any degree of risks or side effects like pharmaceutical drugs can. Our team of professional can treat your migraines in a safe, easy, and highly effective manner. Not only can our approach help eliminate migraines, we can also help prevent them from reoccurring as well.

Call the office today for a FREE Consultation with one of our weight-loss counselors.

These days, there are several different options you can choose from for working on weight-loss goals. One that we recommend is the Paleo diet. The heart of the Paleo diet is cutting out all the foods that are processed and contain harmful chemicals and dyes. This diet is simple to follow and is great way to cut out foods that can cause inflammation in the body.

It’s called the Paleo diet because in essence, it means eating the same way that our ancestors did before the creation of modern agriculture. The great part about the diet is that it cuts out all the modern day processed foods and returns us to eating all natural foods. This in turn helps to lower the amount of inflammation in our bodies, helps strengthen our joint health, and can help lower chronic pain syndromes in the body.

Here are the MAIN recommendations for eating Paleo:

1) No grains (refined or otherwise)

2) No dairy

3) No processed or refined sugar

4) Minimal nuts

5) No preservatives or artificial ingredients

6) No artificial sweeteners

This might sound difficult at first, but once you focus on all the great foods you can eat, you’ll never feel hungry and you’ll always feel like you’ve eaten enough.

These foods are PALEO FRIENDLY:

1) All meats, ideally grass fed, free range.

2) Wild fish and seafood

3) Vegetables

4) Eggs

5) Fruit

6) Good fats such as avocados, olive and coconut oil

For more information about eating Paleo and what it can do for your health and body, we recommend a book published by LOREN CORDAIN, PH.D called The Paleo Diet.

The book is full of great information on eating Paleo and the health benefits that come along with the diet.

In addition to recommending the Paleo diet, we have several weight-loss programs available in our office to help jump-start your spring weight-loss goals.

Call the office today for a FREE Consultation with one of our weight-loss counselors.

Have a wonderful and healthy week!
